UT Arboretum Society and FRREC to Host Hike on 'National Take a Hike Day November 17'

The UT Arboretum Society and UT FRREC will hold the Third Saturday Hike on November 17th at the UT Arboretum from 9:00 - 11 a.m. The hike coincides with 'National Take a Hike Day' when thousands of other hikers will enjoy a walk in the brisk fall air and observe the many colors of the season.

'National Take a Hike Day' is observed annually on November 17th. With over 60,000 miles of trails in the National Trail System across the 50 states, there is no lack of opportunity to take a hike. Events around the country are scheduled to celebrate Take a Hike Day. Hiking can burn between 400-550 calories per hour. What better way to get a head start on all those Ďotherí holiday temptations and observe Take a Hike Day?

Learn about the UT Arboretumís trails on this short trail hike (1 to 2 hours). Hikes will be varied in intensity level, and the route may be changed due to weather conditions or leaderís choice. This hike will be led by a volunteer familiar with the UT Arboretum and the trail system.
