Objectives of this workshop are two-fold. The first objective is to begin a dialogue through peer input from previous faculty awardees and grant review panel members on the important components required in successful proposal development. The second objective is to begin organizing and discussing specific proposal preparation and peer support teams in each of the six broad areas identified by the new Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) program (which is replacing the NRI), Specialty Crops Initiative and the Organic Agriculture Program. The six broad areas of the AFRI program include:

Plant Health & Production, Plant Products, Specialty Crops
Animal Health & Production, Animal Products
Food Safety, Nutrition & Health
Renewable Energy, Natural Resources & Environment
Agricultural Systems & Technology:
Agriculture Economics & Rural Communities
